Office 365 Offline Installation

Analysis:

 

We understand your concern on Office installation for Office 365 product in an Offline mode. In such requirement, Office 365 team offer an office deployment tool to help user to download and install office in a minimal internet connection. This process will help to do your install faster than normal and required an administrator provision.

 

Before you proceed, we would like to refer you to the following article below for more understanding.

 

 

Firstly, we need to download the tools and the package following the steps below:

 

1.       Create a folder file to store all the file require for installation. With a full access permission on the drive

2.       Download and Run Office Deployment Tool: Extract the file to the Folder file that you created

For Office 2013 : https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn782858(v=office.15).aspx.

For Office 2016 : https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49117.

3.       There are 2 files to be extracted, 1 is the xml or configuration  file  and the setup file. For xml file, please edit it the Product ID information according to your license. Refer here for the PRODUCT ID information: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2842297.

Below are the sample xml file and recommended format.

  • For Business license, such as Office 365 Business and Business Premium. Please  adjust the Product ID to “O365BusinessRetail”

  • For ProPlus license, such as E3, E5 and Office 365 ProPlus. Please  adjust the Product ID to “O365ProPlusRetail”

4.       Open the CMD, if not a local admin, need to run the CMD as administrator.

a.       First, from the CMD open the drive where the folder file located as show below.  Then run “setup.exe /download configuration.xml”That will download the package to the allocated drive. When you notice, an Office folder created.

 

         To verify if the download of the file, locate the Office folder in your Source Folder and see if the folder size is about 1.06 GB or more.

After the download, you can run the highlighted command in the cmd without an interne.

  1. You can copy the same source file in every machine that you wish to install the program or set to the network drive shared drive. Please refer here if you required to install office from the network drive: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219423.aspx

  2. For the installation command. Type the “setup.exe /configure configuration.xml” .

 

Furthermore, Failed to download or install the program, please find the link for your reference: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2745026. You might encounter issue along the way. Here are some of them.

  1. Connectivity issue – Might need to verify if you have firewall or Proxy. Need to bypass temporarily.
