Protect Gmail messages with Confidential Mode

Modified on Wed, 29 May, 2019 at 2:54 PM

When someone sends a confidential mode message, Gmail removes the message body and any attachments from the recipient's copy of the message. These are replaced with a link to the content. Gmail clients make the linked content appear as if it's part of the message. Third-party mail clients display a link in place of the content.

As a G Suite administrator, you can disable or enable Gmail confidential mode for your entire domain or for specific organizational units.

When Gmail messages are sent with confidential mode, they’re protected from unauthorized access and recipients don’t have the option to forward, copy, print, or download their content or attachments.

All customers that do not take action before June 25, 2019, will automatically have confidential mode turned on for their users, meaning that their users will have the option to send emails with confidential mode.
